My Impressions of the Anker 312 20W II
The Anker 312 20W II charger (also called the Anker PowerPort III 20W Cube) would be my go-to travel charger if I only needed to worry about my iPhone and a Nintendo Switch without its dock. It checks all my priorities: fast charging support, low cost, small size, folding prongs, and a reliable brand. The 2-pack (which is what I bought for this review) was a good deal, being only $5 more at the time of this post. Perfect for keeping a charger in your commute bag and travel kit or traveling with your partner.
It isn’t the smallest 18-20W USB-C charger I’ve reviewed or the cheapest. But neither of those chargers would be as ideal for commuting or traveling due to their fixed prongs. The Anker 312 20W II also won’t work as your one charger for all devices if you have anything bigger than a Nintendo Switch. Its power output drops out of the fast charging category for iPads/tablets and won’t support a Steam Deck or laptop well. It is a solid, minimalistic fast charger for your phone (it can also max out the charging of a Nintendo Switch in handheld mode), so only expect it to excel in that area. It didn’t get a perfect safety rating above because it is not USB-IF certified, which is common among still good USB-C chargers.
If traveling very light, with no Steam Deck or laptop, I would likely bring an Anker 312 30W II along. They also make for great, dedicated phone charging locations around the house or office.
