First Impression
The AUKEY PA-Y13 46W PD Charging Station is a desktop charger. Larger than the more travel friendly wall chargers. And with a power cord instead of built-in plugs. In exchange for its size it can handle more power throughput. Allowing all three ports to reach their max output together.
Despite some of the pictures on Amazon it isn’t made to stand up, it lays on its side. If the AUKEY logo is facing up then the labels on the USB ports will also be right side up. But your USB cables will plug in sideways. The port labels are glossy black on matte black, so hard to read. The Quick Charge port is colored orange for easy identification.

Device Testing
Check with your device’s manufacturer to verify which charging standards it supports.
USB Power Delivery & Quick Charge 4+ Phones
- Apple iPhone 8/X/XR/XS
- Essential Phone
- Google Pixel
- LG ThinQ series
- Razer
- Samsung Galaxy S8/S9/S10
- Samsung Galaxy Note 8/9
- Xiaomi Mi 8/9
- ZTE Axon Pro 9/10
Using an iPhone 8 for testing we find USB PD phones will fast charge over the USB-C port. iPhones will need to use a USB-C to Lightning cable, not included. And Android phones will need a USB-C to USB-C cable, also not included.
For iPhones either USB-A port supports Apple 2.4A. An older, but still functional fast charging standard. Older iPhones (4-7) can fast charge using USB-A. Newer iPhones will charge ~15 minutes faster using USB-C.
Quick Charge 3.0 Phones
- HTC
- LG
- Motorola
- Nokia
- Samsung Galaxy S7
- Sony
- Xiaomi Mi 5/6
- ZTE
Using a Moto G6 for testing we see Quick Charge will fast charge over the orange USB-A port. Any QC supporting Android phone with USB-C can do the same. But only on the orange port. The green USB-A port will provide a slower than normal charge rate.
Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch charges at its max rate, up to 18W. It’ll fast charge while you play. Its charge rate while sleeping is also normal. This charger can also power the Switch’s dock.
Learn more about charging the Switch.
USB-C Laptops
Using a 13-inch MacBook Pro for testing we can draw up to 43W from this charger. That’s expected, after accounting for efficiency loss.
Different model laptops have different power demands. But in general a 45W charger can support 12-inch, 13-inch, and 14-inch laptops. It can power a larger laptop in a pinch. It will charge while sleeping. But may only extend runtime if used while the larger laptop is active.
Max Output Across All Ports
An advantage to a larger charger is it can handle more power throughput. And that’s exactly what the AUKEY PA-Y13 does.
It can reach a total output of 73.5W:
- 45W USB-C PD
- 18W Quick Charge
- 10.5W USB-A
So there is no nee to worry about balancing the load. Each device you connect will draw its max amount, up to the charger’s specs.
Programmable Power Supply (PPS)
The programmable power supply protocol was added in Power Delivery 3.0 as an option. Chargers that support it are uncommon. It allows for small, step-wise changes in voltage and current. The power transfer is more efficient and lithium batteries endure less heat.
This doesn’t make AUKEY’s charger any faster. And PPS will only engage with devices which support PPS. Not all USB PD 3.0 devices support PPS. All Quick Charge 4+ devices do.
But when engaged it is better for your device. More devices will support PPS in the future. So having a charger that supports it is good future proofing.
Summary
The AUKEY PA-Y13 46W PD Charging Station is an easy solution to charging several devices at once. But works best in a fixed location. It allows all its ports to reach their max output together. So you can be sure you’re getting the fastest charge possible when you plug in.
For phones it fast charges all the usual suspects. Including iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, LG, Motorola, and more.
For the Nintendo Switch it charges in handheld mode as fast as any other option. And can power a docked Switch.
Listing it as a 46W is a generous rounding up of the 20V/2.25A power profile to 20V/2.3A. My sniffer still read it as 20V/2.25A, so it is 45W in all but name. Blame AUKEY’s marketing department. Regardless it supports 12-inch and 13-inch laptops as well as any model of the iPad Pro.
The included power cord gives you 3.8 feet reach. Plus the length of your USB cable is. You could get up to 10 feet total reach for extreme placement situations.

Bottom Line
The AUKEY PA-Y13 46W PD Charging Station is a well rounded desktop charger for your home or office. It supports fast charging and USB PD or Quick Charge supporting device. It doesn’t look like much laying on its side, and cables will be sideways. But there are no limits on allowing each port to reach their max possible output.
