First Impression
The AUKEY Impulse Braided Cable C-C struck me as a solid travel cable immediately. Braided nylon is more durable and puts up with the more regular bending and abuses of travel. Its pleather cable wrap is one of the nicest I’ve seen included with any cable. It snaps into place when the cable is coiled. And it wraps around itself and snaps to be out of the way. I’d also recommend the red over the black for travelers. It stands out from the rest of your cables. And the darker surfaces found in most hotels.

Device Testing
Check with your device’s manufacturer to verify which charging standards it supports.
As a USB-C to USB-C 2.0 cable I plugged it right into my MacBook Pro 13-inch. That would put it through the biggest stress, getting close to its 3A output limit.
Using the MacBook Pro’s original charger I was able to get over 57W through the cable into the laptop. A typical max power draw rate.
Any USB-C device drawing up to 3A will see the same available throughput with this cable. That covers USB-C devices from your phone on up to a 13-inch/14-inch laptop. But it comes up short for what a larger devices with a 65-100W charger will draw. Then it’ll limit the charger to 60W. For those devices you’ll want a USB-C cable that supports 100W (5A).
Braided Nylon & Graphene Skin
Part of AUKEY’s Omni-Power product line. What allows this cable to stand out from their others is the use of graphene skin.
Graphene is a form of carbon with a special set of properties. It is ~100 times stronger than the same thickness of steel. But with much lower density. Used in semiconductors, electronics, batteries, and composite materials. Research for medical applications is also underway.
In the case of this cable a thinner and more flexible braided nylon variant. Braided nylon cables offer more durability. They protect the inner wires from bends and have a longer useful lifespan. But often such cables are thicker than non-braided versions. This restricts flexibility, making extreme bends difficult or impossible. And making coiling the cable for travel more difficult.
This cable is more stiff than non-braided cables with similar specs. But it is one of the more flexible braided cables I’ve come across. And among the first I’d use for travel as it meets my flexibility requirements.
Summary
The AUKEY Impulse Braided Cable C-C performs well for charging USB-C devices that take up to 60W. From phones to accessories to a mid sized laptop. It doesn’t boast full USB-C speed data transfer rates. But for that you’d have to pay for a more expensive USB-C 3.0 cable. As a USB-C 2.0 cable it is ideal for charging. Though it can handle slower data transfers if needed.
Where it stands apart from similar cables is its more flexible braided nylon design. Which offers better protection of the wires inside than a regular nylon cable. But with less of the inflexibility common with braided cables. While not quite as flexible as a cheaper nylon version you won’t notice the difference. As it’ll bend and coil as needed. You will notice increased durability. Which should lead to a longer lifetime of usefulness.
My favorite bit is the pleather cable wrap. I use velcro cable wraps with many of my cables. Especially any I travel with. It keeps them neat in the bag with not tangling. I use a big roll of velcro wraps for any cables that don’t come with their own. The pleather cable wrap here feels luxurious by comparison. It looks and feels better. Its snap button doesn’t take any more effort than an inch of velcro stuck together. And gives a reassuring “snap” when closed. It still works well for tying up the entire cable or setting it to a shorter length. And it can wrap around and connects to itself to keep out of the way.
AUKEY sells this cable in black and red. I would suggest going with the red. It stands out better among your collection of cables, which are likely all black and white.
