First Impression

The Zikko eLUGGAGE X Worldwide Travel Smart Adapter (yes, that whole thing is its name) is a one and done world travel power solution. The downside is that makes it a brick. The average Switch owner wouldn’t need all its features. But a world traveler who also owned a Switch would want a single charger to rule them all.

World Travel Adapter

The Zikko EX300 model isn’t only a USB charger with different plugs, like its smaller EX200 cousin. It offers several power plug solutions when visiting one of 150+ different countries.

On the front you have three built-in plugs available: US, UK, and Australia type plugs. On the rear is a universal jack which can accept plugs from the US, UK, Europe, and Australia. Plug your US styled laptop charger into the rear jack, and then use the UK plug to charge while in London. While doing so the USB-C and USB-A ports are available for your USB devices.

If in a European country the rear jack assembly can be removed, revealing an EU plug. You can use this piece on its own to power your laptop or other corded device. Or plug the EU plug into the front of the charger. Any of the three plugs will work, but I found the UK plug had the best grip. Now you can use the USB ports from an EU outlet.

The whole thing will support up to 2500W devices (hairdryer, iron, etc). The EU plug on its own will support up to 4000W (appliances).

As this charger can deal with so much power it has extra safety features in place. Near the rear jacks is a status indicator light. On means everything is working okay. Off indicates overload or power failure. The light is a mild white, so it shouldn’t both you at night. Overcurrent protection is built-in, including a manual button by the strap.

Single Outlet Closer To Home

Another use case for the Zikko eLUGGAGE X is in your home country. It plugged in fine when I connected it to a US wall outlet, and then connect my US plug laptop power adapter. Why would I do this? What if I only had access to one wall outlet? In this case it acts as a passthrough. I can get 30W out of USB-C PD port while having one wall outlet available for a larger device.

A power strip or multi-outlet wall plug and a 30W USB-C PD charger would get the same result. And depending on your USB-C PD charger might be less total weight. But if you got the Zikko for overseas travel it could still be useful for domestic trips.

Summary

The Zikko eLUGGAGE X Worldwide Travel Smart Adapter is an all-in-one world power adapter with a 30W USB-C PD charger built-in. It charges the Nintendo Switch fast in handheld mode. But that is secondary to what else it does for international travelers.

Say I go overseas with my iPhone, Switch, and 13-inch MacBook Pro. I would only need this Zikko product and my MacBook Pro’s power adapter. Plug the Zikko eLUGGAGE X into the outlet at the hotel in the UK. Plug the MacBook Pro’s power adapter into the Zikko. And plug the iPhone and Switch into the Zikko’s USB ports.

The design of the EU plug as a separate piece allows it to work with higher wattage appliances. But for tech laden travels it is less convenient. If in the same trip I took the Chunnel to France I could only charge my laptop or USB devices. Not all three at once. Adding a $5 US to EU plug adapter would solve that, but it takes away from the all-in-one benefit. Something to consider for those who frequent the EU more.

I also want to point out that the strap on the top does not snap open and close. It is riveted together. Handy if you have something open ended to hand it from. But don’t plan on attaching it to anything it can’t slide onto.

The charger is available through Amazon. If you’re outside the USA and can’t find it check Zikko’s site. They’ll sell and ship it worldwide. They have warehouses in Los Angeles, London, and Moscow. The central warehouse in Hong Kong will ship everywhere else. They are MFi certified by Apple and are an Apple retail partner in Asian markets.

Bottom Line

The Zikko eLUGGAGE X Worldwide Travel Smart Adapter is a feature rich world power adapter. It is a better solution for travelers with a laptop or other large device as well as their USB devices. But you’ll need to choose what gets charged when if in a country with EU style plugs.
