The Inateck 60W PD USB-C Wall Charger is a great second charger for Nintendo Switch owners with a USB-C laptop. It’s 60W output will keep up to a 15-inch laptop running. But isn’t so much current that there is a safety concern for the Switch.

First Impression

Despite being larger than a 45W charger (normal for a 60W charger), the Inateck 60W PD USB-C Wall Charger is smaller than I expected. Its power output specs makes it among the most powerful chargers that is safe to use with the Switch (not over 3A). Its power output range allows it to charge a USB-C smartphone or a USB-C laptop equally well. The included USB-C cable at 6.6 foot/2 meter is longer than any I already had.

Summary

The Inateck 60W PD USB-C Wall Charger is a great charger for the Nintendo Switch. It charges as well as the Switch’s AC adapter. With a higher output and better range of power profiles it supports many other USB-C devices. It will power a docked Switch, convenient for travel.

This charger and cable went through USB-IF certification testing from the factory. But as Inateck isn’t a paying member of the USB-IF they can’t use the USB-IF certified label. As such I opted to upgrade its safety rating, despite the lack of actual certification.

I like this charger for commuting or traveling with a larger laptop and Switch. It’s included USB-C cable is longer than I usually need. But I’ve setup a docked Switch at someone else’s house without easy access to power. A cable 33% longer than the one on the Switch AC adapter would have helped. The cable has a velcro wrap to keep it tidy. This charger also packs neater than the Switch’s AC adapter.

If you don’t own a USB-C laptop this charger may be overkill. It’s priced well for 60W, but if the Switch is your largest USB-C device a 45W charger would work as well and cost less. But keep in mind USB-C will continue to spread. If you own a laptop now chances are you’ll own a USB-C laptop later. Buying a 60W charger over a 45W could future-proof your power needs.

Inateck makes niche electronics and accessories. USB-C chargers is one of their new major product categories. I’ve used their hard drive docking stations many times in a professional IT setting. I’m happy to see their USB-C chargers work as well as their other product offerings.

Inateck has U.S. based support contacts (web, email, phone) and warranty service.

Bottom Line

The Inateck 60W PD USB-C Wall Charger is a great all-in-one charger for Switch owners with larger USB-C laptops. It charges the Switch at max rate while handheld or docked. It meets max power draw for most 13-inch laptops. It’ll keep up with the needs of larger laptops under most conditions. Supporting fast charging for smartphones makes it a triple threat.
