Great for: iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Android, and iPad Pro (Lightning)

There is only a 1-minute difference in charge time between an 18W and 20W charger for the iPhone 12. If buying for the first time 20W chargers are newer, 18W may be cheaper. If you already have an 18W then a 20W upgrade does almost nothing for you.

Single Port

Recommendation: ZMI zPower Turbo 18W USB-C PD is the best value. If you demand folding prongs (US version) then go with the Anker PowerPort PD 1.

Multi-Port

25W USB-C PPS Charger

Great for: Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer phones

These chargers support 25W PPS, a lower heat and stress fast charging mode supporting by newer Samsung devices among others. They are considered optimal and help prolong battery life, but an 18-20W charger can get the same job done. Apple devices do not support PPS, so while these chargers would work with an iPhone there is no special benefit to using them.

Great for: Nintendo Switch (handheld), iPad Pro (USB-C), Samsung Galaxy Note, MacBook Air

Great for: Nintendo Switch (docked), Steam Deck, Samsung Galaxy Note Plus

Single Port

Recommendation: I would skip to the next section (60-65W) and check out the ZMI zPower Turbo 65W. A great, smallish charger with USB-C cable included. Cheaper than anything above while offering more power output (so it’ll work with more future devices longer).

Multi-Port

60-65W USB-C Chargers

Great for: MacBook Pro 13-inch, most 13 and 14-inch PC laptops

A USB-C to USB-C cable which supports 100W (5A) power is required to get the full 65W on supporting chargers. Otherwise, they act like a 60W charger. In most cases, the extra 5W makes little to no difference.

Single Port

Recommendation: The ZMI zPower Turbo 65W wins on value alone, offering the best price and with a 100W rated USB-C cable. For the smallest and lightest option go with the Anker Nano II 65W, but you’ll pay for the smaller form factor.

Multi-Port

Recommendation: Treat these as 45W USB-C chargers for your larger device, as none of them can offer 60W to a laptop while a second device is also connected. That is still enough to keep your mid-sized laptop running under most conditions.

90-100W USB-C Charger

Great for: MacBook Pro 15-inch, MacBook Pro 16-inch, most 15 to 17-inch PC laptops

100W is the highest output a USB-C Power Delivery charger can go under current specifications. A USB-C to USB-C cable which supports 100W (5A) power is required.
